Coops & Runs

Opening
First I'd like to state that our birds use their coops ONLY for sleeping, this is why we can keep the hutches this small! Even so by the time I write these lines we have a total of 180 yr² of coops for our feathered friends. More coops are yet to come;-)
Our first coop we've got from the former renter, he had raised rabbits in there. We had to adopt and Benni was of great help cleaning and building. The hutch is 19.69 x 13.12 ft. We had 1,4 Brahma and 3,3 Runners in there initially.
We pretty fast noticed that the Pins won't get up there voluntarily so we decided to build yet another coop for them. The boxes to the right are 39.37 x 31.5 in, there are eight of them. The lower four ones our birds use for sleeping, the upper boxes are used as quarantine- and storage-boxes.
Nesting Boxes
Our Brahma use banana-cardboard-boxes from the supermarket which can easily be disposed of (carton rots good and worms love to eat the material) and replaced if dirty. The measurements of the self-build wooden structures are 23.62 x 31.5 in per box, we have 3 in a row making the whole thing 70.87 in wide. The boxes standing only a few inches above the ground are made of used wood.

I'll write the text as soon as possible, for now you can at least watch the pictures. Please don't hesitate to ask if you want to know some details, we'll be glad to help.

Roosting-Poles
Yes, some even roost to sleep, but mostly the heavy, old birds favor boxes near the ground.

Pins
The pins are happy if they get a bowl of water in their coop, no need for further equipment there;-) For easy cleaning the lid can be hog-tied.
Runs
Brahma Chicks
Silkie Chicks
Avian Flu Hysteria
We were forced to cover parts of the garden, sadly it didn't work out the way it was meant to be...
