The Bustle - Fashions influence on poultry
The bustle was the dress form following the hoop. It was popular from the late eighteen sixties through very beginning of the Edwardian, at the turn of the century.
The bustle under form and the cushion are very much the same in shape. The cushion form as we know it only came about in the 1890's in the UK. It was being developed and perfected during the 1870's and 80's, when the bustle was at it's height of fashion. Interestingly, the feather quill and the bustle boning serve the same function...to support the form and give structure.
